Working at the Sámi Parliament
At the Sámi Parliament, we work for the entire Sámi community to ensure that Sámi languages and culture continue to have space to thrive. The Sámi Parliament is one of the major employers in the Sámi homeland. Our scope of operations is vast, and experts are needed in various fields and roles.
The Sámi Parliament is an organisation consisting of elected representatives, where the highest decision-making power lies with the Sámi Parliament Plenum. The political bodies of the Sámi Parliament are responsible for developing lines of policy, which the administration works to advance and implement.
Leadership and supervision at the Sámi Parliament are conducted in accordance with Sámi values and ground rules which are mutually agreed upon. The work of Sámi Parliament personnel is guided by the plan of operations for the current Sámi Parliament electoral term, as well as the Sámi Parliament rules of procedure, which govern e.g. appointed positions, various parliamentary bodies and their responsibilities, and administrative procedures at the Sámi Parliament. Personnel policy is guided by a personnel policy plan drafted for each parliamentary term.
