For Youth
The Youth Council Works under the Sámi Parliaments, and its job is to implement the youth policy activities of the Sámi Parliaments. The main task of the Youth Council is to promote the linguistic and cultural rights of Sámi youth throughout Finland and to strengthen their sense of belonging to Sámi culture. In addition to political activity, the Youth Council takes part in projects that encourage Sámi youth to use Sámi languages and strengthen Sámi identity through, for example, youth work. In addition, the Youth Council shares information to young people about issues that concern them.
The Youth Council prepares the Sámi Parliament’s statements, initiatives, and other positions that concern Sámi youth or their living conditions.
