Translation services

Register or log in to the Lingsom service to request a translation.

• Please submit the source text via the service as a Word document. Translators do not carry out text formatting.
• Please note that automated emails from the Lingsom system can be directed to your spam folder. You can prevent this by marking Lingsom as a trusted sender.

Translation fees of the Sámi Parliament as of 1 February 2020:

• A fee of 85€ per page is charged for translations provided by the Sámi language office between Finnish and Sámi (Northern Sámi, Inari Sámi or Skolt Sámi), in either direction. One page is defined as 1,560 characters, including spaces.
• If the source text is more complex, the translation fee can be increased by up to 50%. Urgent translations may also be subject to a surcharge of up to 50%. If the translation involves updating an existing translation, the fee may be reduced by 50% or the minimum charge.
• The minimum charge for translations is €25.

Other Language Services

For other language services provided by the Sámi Language Office, such as text revision or translation support, a fee of €70 is charged for each commenced hour.

Interpreting and Translating

The Sámi language office does not organise interpreting or translating services, but staff can assist in locating interpreters. Sámi language interpreters can be found via the Translator and Interpreter Search Service.
